SUNY implements Serials Solutions 360 Link OpenURL link resolver
Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest, has announced that the State University of New York (SUNY) consortium (SUNYconnect) has chosen Serials Solutions 360 Link OpenURL link resolver to provide its users with full-text access to e-resources. SUNY library leaders made the decision to migrate from a previous OpenURL application to 360 Link in April, citing a comprehensive knowledgebase, reliable support, and ease of setup and administration as reasons for the purchase.
The SUNY organization comprises 64 campuses at the community college, college, and university level. Of the 64 campuses, 58 have opted to implement 360 Link. Serials Solutions has previously implemented instances of 360 Link for large groups such as the Keystone Library Network (KLN) and the University of Maine system.
“360 Link is the ideal OpenURL link resolver for consortia,” says Steve DiStasio, Product Manager at Serials Solutions, “It’s perfect for use in a library of any size, and because implementation takes weeks instead of months, whole organizations can be up and running full-text searches in no time.”
Before the adoption of 360 Link, approximately half of SUNY libraries were already using Serials Solutions AMSa Access and Management Service to supply their users with a complete A-to-Z Title List. With AMS and 360 Link fully integrated, SUNY libraries can provide a direct interface from their A-to-Z list to full-text articles. 360 Link accesses the Serials Solutions knowledgebase, a complete and corrected repository of e-resource data, to provide accurate, up-to-date results for full-text searches.
“Much of the work I used to do on our old link resolver is done on 360 Link by Serials Solutions staff,” says Bill Drew, System and Reference Librarian at Morrisville State College, who implemented 360 Link at his library. “They also update the knowledgebase daily, which makes my job much easier. Our experience with their support team has been excellent—Serials Solutions really listens to its users. So if you have a choice, pick 360 Link.”
Serials Solutions 360 Link is part of the integrated Serials Solutions 360 e-resource access and management service, which also features 360 Search federated search service, 360 MARC Updates OPAC updating service, 360 Resource Manager e-resource management system, and options for consulting and data migration.
